Keizaal: A Simple Modlist

9.0.0 Beta - The Back to Basics Update

Thank you for participating in the Keizaal 9.0.0 Beta!

The theme of this update is returning everything to basics and focusing on making Skyrim’s core experience the best it can be. Consistency is key here, I want to ensure that there is a nice level of quality across the board so that you are never taken out of the experience.

This will manifest in upgrading to the most recent versions of all the essential mods in Keizaal. The list was last updated in 2024 and several mods have had large updates such as SkyUI and Community Shaders. It is important to ensure that everything is working smoothly and interacting in an easy-to-understand way without the need to refer to external documentation.

Due to the significant resources required to make Wyrmstooth and Beyond Skyrim: Bruma compatible and consistent with the rest of the list, both have been removed. These mods happen outside of the rest of Skyrim, literally and metaphorically, and oftentimes I’d notice that players didn’t really interact with them much because there’s already so much to do in Skyrim.

Does this mean that Beyond Skyrim won’t be part of the modlist in the future? I can’t say for certain yet, but there’s no reason full releases from Beyond Skyrim wouldn’t be included. Bruma contains a lot of great content, but it was designed as a pre-release for Cyrodiil. There are some things in the Bruma files that aren’t used yet, and in-game, characters talk about things that are going to be in Cyrodiil, but aren’t in Bruma. Adding Bruma requires a notable amount of resources and time, and I’d prefer to reserve that effort for full releases in future versions.

A number of smaller mods will also be removed in this update. Keizaal includes many small “immersion” mods that most players will never notice. These take up space in the modlist and create more opportunities for issues to arise. You can find more details in the changelog below.
